I wanted the opportunity to truly make a difference and be more than just a number within a large organisation. I knew that Fintech would be the right move.

PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND TELL US ABOUT YOUR ROLE.

I am a senior credit risk underwriter here at MarketInvoice and my focus is to help drive the growth of our Confidential Invoice Discounting (CID) solution. I also support the technical aspects of this solution helping the Sales and Risk team to grow the MarketInvoice ‘book’.

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO MOVE FROM CORPORATE BANKING TO A FINTECH?

I was ready to make a change. I wanted the opportunity to truly make a difference and be more than just a name or number within a large organisation. I knew that joining a Fintech was the right move for me. I had heard good things about MarketInvoice and how their smart technology was helping to revolutionise business finance – I wanted to be a part of something great.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY WITH MARKETINVOICE.

I was welcomed with open arms from the get-go. I have only been here for a short period of time, but with management and mentoring from Shaun Alexander (our Head of Risk), I have implemented and achieved a lot. From my day-to-day job as an underwriter to hosting broker events with the Sales team, I have been given the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects to broaden my knowledge and expertise – thus accelerating my career.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT WORKING AT MARKETINVOICE?

The people and our mindset. We all truly live and breathe our #MakeItHappen value, getting stuff done quickly with less talk and more action. We’re extremely agile, we have no red tape. If something doesn’t work for us or takes too long, we remove the barriers. We’re always challenging ourselves to do more – and to do things that have never been done before.

TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT WORKING AT A FINTECH THAT PEOPLE MIGHT NOT EXPECT.

How inclusive and accessible we are. Even if someone is working from home, we all communicate in real-time via Slack. We have Friday night Townhall get-togethers and a regular breakfast club cook-off. We make time for one another and these bonding opportunities allow us to humanise any situation. We are one team, working together to make it happen.
